Hungarian haka
FÉRFISZÖVETSÉG, 2026-06-19., 14:15 - 16:15
I've been practicing the Maori haka since 2016 alone, in groups, in person, online, with Hungarian peers, with Maori knowledge keepers, in the city, and in the forest. In the mens groups I led with my partner Brúnó Lévai, I saw the men blossom, emerge from the deep depths of oppression, and tap into their strength through the practice of the haka.
Years ago, I began to wonder: what could be the Hungarian equivalent of the haka?
I sought the spirit that would support the creation of this ritual. Fortunately, this idea resonated strongly with my fellow Mens Alliance member and friend Balázs Teszár, and in 2023, everything came together to create the Hungarian haka. With the help of Toroa, a Maori keeper of knowledge, we created the Ancient Gallop.
I feel that the haka calls upon that pure essence within us, that primal part that lies deepest within. It evokes a deep connection to nature within me, strengthening the sincere connection between heart and strength, and through it I allow the wildness of the natural human to emergea force capable of destroying as a raging storm, or of protecting and lifting us up with gentle power.
The warrior within us, the free and pure consciousness, and the compassionate heartour connection to the earth where we were born; throughout our lives, many things can distance us from these important qualities; during the ancient gallop, our goal is to liberate them through sound, movement, and the collective power of our companions, and to restore them to their rightful place.
This workshop is for you if:
- Youd like to experience what the ancient ritual of the gallop stirs within you!
- You want to deepen your connection with your masculine power
- Youd like to finally rewrite your old patterns and move toward alliance with your male peers instead of competition
- You want to give direction to your strength and voice, rather than suppressing them
- You want to be present in your life not only with your strength, but also with your heart
Lets find the path together through practice, connecting with our ancestors, reviving the tribes of the indigenous peoples through our movements, invoking the fire of spirituality through ritual turning toward the stars for guidance, just as our Hungarian ancestors did.
The workshop is led by:
Zoltán Zám hiking coach, haka strength awakener, self-awareness group leader
