Dr. Vishnu Nair earned his degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery at Rajiv Gandhi University in India, and later became the respected Chief Physician and Director of the Ayurvedic Health Center (SIH) at the world-renowned Sivananda Ashram, the Indian headquarters of the Sivananda Yoga organization.
His areas of expertise include neurological disorders, rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, bone and joint conditions, and Panchakarma therapies (detoxification and regeneration). His work emphasizes holistic, personalized care, integrating Panchakarma, herbal therapies, lifestyle counseling, yoga, and preventive health strategies to restore balance, vitality, and overall well-being.

Within the framework of this workshop, we can learn about our own individual Ayurvedic body-mind type, and then, armed with the simple daily practices and tools discussed here, we can take the first steps towards maintaining our health and preventing diseases.
The lecture offers a comprehensive overview of Ayurveda, this more than 5,000-year-old Indian science, one of the most ancient systems of medical knowledge in the world. Dr. Vishnu briefly introduces the origins of Ayurveda and its mythological and philosophical background, then provides insight into its foundations and core principles. Participants will learn about the theory of the three doshas, the different Ayurvedic body types, and gain a deeper understanding of how our body, mind, and psyche function. The importance of healthy digestion will also be discussed, along with how its imbalance or impairment affects overall health. The aim of the lecture is to present a clear, accessible, and practical understanding of Ayurveda that can be applied in everyday life to support health, balance, and well-being.
