Sena Dagadub
music band
Sena Dagadus journey began in 2002, exactly 20 years ago, when she wandered into a hip-hop club in Buda and, at her friends urging, grabbed the open microphone. This moment proved pivotal in Hungarian pop music history she never put the microphone down again, becoming an indispensable figure in the countrys pop culture.
Her debut album, First One (2003), became emblematic of the first half of the 2000s and quickly brought her nationwide recognition. Since then, Sena has released three more solo albums: Lots Of Trees (2012), Feathers (2017), and Wings (2019), but she is best known as a team player. Over the past two decades, she has performed as the lead singer of Kamu, Barabás Lőrinc Eklektric, and most prominently Irie Maffia, touring extensively across Hungary and over 15 other countries and cities from New York to Paris, London to Accra.
Alongside her domestic success, Sena has built a strong international presence, touring Europe multiple times with the French label Irie Ites, collaborating with DJ Vadim, and contributing to numerous global releases. Her collaboration with Belgian drum & bass DJ Murdock is currently her most streamed Hungarian-related track on Spotify.
Sena is a true musical chameleon, seamlessly adapting to reggae, rock, disco, or hip-hop, and she can perform gospel at a papal mass or duet with legendary Hungarian composer Gábor Presser. Despite her achievements, Sena is not flashy; her music always reflects her inner balance and conveys messages that matter to her. While she can effortlessly charm audiences with light hits, she seeks the challenge of deeper, meditative, attention-demanding performances.
This led to the creation of her new project, Sena Dagadub, which highlights her meditative and spiritual side. The Sena Dub show blends Jamaican dub, jazz flute, and Senas smoky vocals to create a unique sonic atmosphere. Unhurried yet rich in texture, the music demonstrates the beauty of slowing down and exploring a world that moves too fast. Sena aims to move beyond the standard three-minute song structure, liberating music from the golden cage it often occupies today.
